Nuevo Mundo: the lockdown album and the birth of #UrbanFlamenco
Back then, I went by G.No. It was the middle of lockdown, and every day on Facebook I made songs. To my amazement, they reached 2 million plays, with a huge number of comments from people who truly got it.
That’s when I understood I had to be sincere in my music. Lockdown pushed me there: no frills, at home, unable to shoot music videos. I took my sheet of paper, my pen, my feelings.
I felt very alone: I was in a big house, by myself, going through a separation. I made songs and saw that they connected. It was the first time my songs really connected. That’s how the album Nuevo Mundo was born.
Six years later, I’m coming back to that. I’ve been tempted by different sirens: AI, frills, aesthetics. Today I’m returning to the essentials, armed with my Leica, my guitar and my pen.
